POWSERS MOUNTAINEERING CLUB GLOSSOP ENGLAND |
|
First and foremost we are a walking club with a healthy appetite for the mountains, outdoors and adventure. Our philosophy is simple, we enjoy going out on the hill and the only baggage we take with us is a rucksack. But we do have those amongst us who have pedigree of climbing and mountaineering experiences, as well as those who have travelled to remote corners of the world in search of adventure. We also have one or two that enjoy more ‘sedate’ activities like caving and mountain biking. Our tradition is to meet every Sunday, but we do get away for several weekends during the year, usually staying in hut accommodation, although occasionally the odd B&B has been used. An Easter trip to more distant places is very popular and in recent years we have been to Croatia, Spain, France and many times to the Scottish Highlands. An autumn trip to Spain is now firmly established taking advantage of Easy Jet’s cheap flights and good remote accommodation in the Spanish mountains. The year is rounded off with the traditional annual dinner, which is held just before Christmas. It is the perfect excuse to reminisce about the epics of the previous twelve months and recount the stories of years gone by, as well as honouring the achievements made by individuals during the year. |
